CDE program

We conducted the “LASER in Dentistry” CDE program and a 2-day hands-on workshop organized by the Department of Periodontology on 2.12.24 and 3.12.24. Esteemed speaker and trainer, Dr. Shikha Tripathi from New Delhi, led the event. With 209 participants and 91 actively engaging in the hands-on sessions, it was an enriching experience for all.

We are proud to announce that our faculty member, Prof. Dr. Yoithap Prabhunath TR, MDS, Ph.D., was invited as a guest speaker for a panel discussion titled “IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY - REVISITED” at the National Conference of Indian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologists, held from 29th Nov - 1st Dec 2024 in Kodaikanal. He was also honored for his contribution as HONORARY ASSISTANT EDITOR (2023-24) in the JOURNAL OF ORAL & MAXILLOFACIAL PATHOLOGY, a PMC & SCOPUS Indexed Journal.

The 12th graduation ceremony of Vivekanandha Dental College for Women, Tiruchengode was held on 28.11.2024. Prof. Dr. M. Karunanithi, Chairman and Secretary, Vivekanandha Educational Institutions presided over the event. Annual Day Celebration

We celebrated our 17th Annual Day on Friday evening, November 15, 2024, at the Vivekanandha A/C Auditorium on our Tiruchengode Main campus. The event was presided by our Chairman and Secretary, Vidhya Rathna, Prof. Dr. M. Karunanidhi. Our Principal, Dr. S. Nagalakshmi, presented the annual report, highlighting the outstanding achievements of our students, faculty, and the entire institution. Our Chief Guest, Clinical Psychologist Dr. Babu Rangarajan, shared invaluable tips for life with our students.

Our II BDS Students had an enriching experience at Animal House workshop at Swamy Vivekananda College of Pharmacy on 17th and 18th October 2024. This workshop is about the essentials of animal care and ethical practices, highlighting the critical role of animals in health research.

World Anatomy Day

On October 15, Vivekanandha Dental College for Women celebrated World Anatomy Day 2024 with the theme "Anatomy in Motion." The event showcased five creative competitions: Body Canvas, Dental Mindbenders, Human Forms in Motion, Inner Voice, and Anatomical Sculpture Challenge (Table Clinic). Students showcased their innovative skills and deep anatomical knowledge, fostering teamwork, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for anatomy.

Oral Hygiene Day

The Department of Periodontology conducted a weeklong Oral Hygiene Awareness Program from July 29th to August 5th, 2024, emphasizing the vital link between oral hygiene and general health. This program was led by Principal Dr. S. Nagalakshmi, reached students of various Vivekanandha institutions, including College for Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy, Allied health Sciences and the VVB school. A total of 1500 students and Staff were benefited from this awareness program.

In collaboration with NMC and Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, we dedicated a month to raising awareness about hypertension from May 17th to June 16th.

Our blood pressure monitoring station in the Oral Medicine and Radiology Department educated patients on the crucial importance of maintaining healthy blood pressure levels.

Our future dental professionals engaged in enlightening orientation lectures, emphasizing the significance of detailed medical histories and the management of hypertensive patients.

CDE Program

In celebration of World Orthodontic Health Day, the Department of Orthodontics at VDCW hosted an online webinar on "Cleft Lip & Palate - Recent Update" on 17th May 2024, from 2 PM to 3 PM. We were honored to have Dr. Dhivakar Selvaraj, MDS, as our guest speaker. The session was insightful and well-received by all staff members, PGs, and CRRIs who attended via Google Meet. Additionally, we conducted oral health care sessions for orthodontic patients in our department from 14th May to 17th May 2024.

VDCW organized a dental camp at Sathya Sai Mandir in Tiruchengode on 16.05.2024. During this event, patients were screened for various oral hygiene-related issues. Additionally, a breath analyzer was used to screen smoker patients, providing a comprehensive assessment of their oral health.

On the occasion of National CONS ENDO Day, Our Team ODS of Vivekanandha Dental College for Women takes the pride of conducting the “Rotary Endodontics!”- Hands on program for the first of its kind benefitting Faculties, PGs, CRRIs from various departments. The participants were refreshed with back to back lectures followed by one-on-one hands on. This two days Endodontics continuum - 2024 exclusively dealt with the basics in rotary endodontics essential for a clinician in day to day practice.

AAID Symposium

Dr. S. Shankar, Professor of VDCW, was the Keynote Speaker in AAID Symposium: Delivered a Lecture on Full Arch Implant Treatment on 02.03.2023 at Chennai.

CDE program

CDE program was conducted on the occasion of National Oral Pathologist Day on 26.02.2024. Prof. Dr. Maya Ramesh from Vinayaga Missions Dental College and Prof. Dr. Yamunadevi from the Nandha Dental College were the Guest Speakers. The Chief Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. S. Murali, (Former HOD, VMSDC) graced the occasion and distributed the prizes for the winners of the competition.

Dental Screening Camp

Dental Screening Camp was conducted at Puthu Pulliyampatti on 26.02.2024 for Government Primary School Students in collaboration with Arulmigu Arthanareeswarar Arts & Science College and JCI Tiruchengode Divine. Our Dental team conducted this camp which benefitted around 100 subjects.

National Periodontist Day

On the occasion of National Periodontist Day, “Perio Symposium on Implant Site Development" was conducted on 23.02.2024. Guest Speakers were Dr. Esther Nalini, from KSR Dental College, Dr. V. Gopinath from VDCW and Dr. Muthu Kumar from Sri Ramachandra Dental College.

On 21-02-2024, Oral Health Awareness & Screening Camp was also conducted at Vetri Vidhyashram Nursery and Primary School, Elampillai. Around 190 students were benefitted by our Dental Team.

On the occasion of International Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons' Day (13-02-2024), CDE program was conducted on Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice. Guest Speaker was Dr Kannan Balaraman, from Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore.

On 12-02-2024, Oral Health Awareness & Screening Camp was conducted at Vidyaa Vikas Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Morepalayam. Our Dental team conducted this camp which benefitted 700 students.

On 23.01.2024, Oral Health Awareness & Screening camp was conducted by Vivekanandha Dental College for Women at Chettinad Vidya Mandir School, Karur. Our principal delivered the Guest Lecture on Oral Health. Team of Faculty members with enthusiastic PGs & CRRIs conducted this camp in which around 900 students & staffs were benefitted.

Anti-Ragging Workshop

On the 12th January 2024, Friday, “Anti-Ragging Workshop” was conducted for the students of the Vivekanandha Dental College for Women as per DCI mandate from 2pm to 3.30pm.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Nidarsh D Hedge, Member of Dental Council of India, explained to the students, what exactly constitutes ragging, why is it a criminal offence and who is liable to be prosecuted for it.

The take home message of this workshop is that the ragging is strictly frowned upon in this institution and will be dealt with severe consequences, if anyone is found guilty of indulging in it.

Dinesh Shankar and Dr. Yoithap Prabhunath, Professors in the Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology, were honoured in the 2nd International Conference on Craniofacial Pathology and Biology organized by Saveetha Dental College, Chennai on 5th January 2024. Director of Dental & Paramedical Institutions, Dr. (Capt.) S. Gokulanathan congratulated them for bringing laurels to the institution!

Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry conducted a CDE programme titled Pedoconverse on 4.1.2024. The invited guest speakers were Dr.Uma Maheswari and Dr.Padmanabhan Yuvaraj. Dr Uma Maheswari delivered the lecture on “I’m Tickled Pink- Renovate Pediatric Dentistry” and Dr.Padmanabhan Yuvaraj enlightened the audience on “Transcending behavioural barriers with sedation-Clinical Perspectives.”
